I was big my whole life. I successfully went from 252lbs to 141lbs recently and became a huge advocate for health. You can do this!

Most diets fail. He needs therapy for his trauma and pain. That will lead to him caring about his health and not over eating to cope with pain. Fat shaming is real and terrible and pervasive and hurts someone for the rest of their lives. Diet culture is toxic, love and therapy is the answer for him.

Diets are only temporary fixes. Once you stop a diet your going to more than likely, gain all that weight back and possibly more.

I side with the personal trainer. I think 700lb man is a bit too sensitive. Need to reattach with reality.

Anything can become an addiction. It depends on if the person has an addictive personality as well. But we are all creatures of habit.

Excuses and blaming other people for his actions- he is seating deep in his victimhood and too comfortable in it. I think his wife should leave him, the fact that she is there for him enables him. He needs to face a reality and consequences.

I’m a trainer. There is only so much you can do. You can’t work with that kind of negativity and excuses. If someone is literally staring death in the face, and that’s not enough motivation to change, then there’s not a whole lot a PT can do. This guy wants an easy fix when there isn’t one. Quite frankly, he’s disrespectful to the people who want to help him and his negative attitude gets irritating, fast.

What’s mind boggling is that no one seems to realize that it’s not about whether he has the right resources or not. It’s his mindset. He needs intensive mental retraining. You can’t just tell him what to do and expect him to do it.
